Moving Along

The move is going well. We filled three smart boxes and hired movers for the heavy stuff. I'll have a more comprehensive post soon. We probably won't have net access for another two weeks, so things will be quiet at The Lewis Show. Keep an eye on my Twitter and Google Reader feeds. Those will stay updated.

Don't Count Out MySpace

Image
I haven't found a ton of value in MySpace over the past year with the inception and fame of Facebook and micro blogging services such as Twitter and Pownce. I was curious about the new profile editor on MySpace, so I spent some time there yesterday and came to this realization. Their music service has to be the best on the web in the social music world. I have established by being there over four years a large list of bands and friends that have similar taste in music. I even met Janine over having similar tastes in music. We both like In Flames, so we owe Swedish metal ultimately for our meeting. MySpace made news this weekend for streaming the new album from Guns and Roses, Chinese Democracy over their music service. It was reported on Friday that there were 826,000 listens to their new title track at a rate of 25 listeners a second going to MySpace to hear the much awaited album. That shattered any previous record and is potentially sending a strong signal to the music ind

Big Weekend

Penobscot1024 Originally uploaded by Mike and Janine Janine and I finish packing this weekend for the big move next week. There's a ton of emotions ranging from nervous, to excited, to outright scared. I just can't wait to get the heavy lifting done so we can really start to live our lives together per say. Had to throw in some South Park humor...per say.

My Choice for Smart Phone

Do want!

Do I Dare Complain?

It's certainly darker earlier.  We've been fighting off a cold for the past few days. I have a ton of packing still to do. I can't find anything. I'm super disorganized. My car needs to be inspected, get new tires, and have the signal fixed badly. My Mom needs to get better now! I need to see my brother and his family more. I need to be a better uncle to all my nephews. I'm forgetting if I'm coming or going. I am constantly exhausted. I don't feel like cooking. Gripe gripe gripe. Despite the rough few days, I've never felt better about my life, my family, and my Janine. In this time of recession and panic, a few minutes to sit and realize the great things in our life, the sooner we can turn the above into the below. Think about it. Then do the same. Wintertime is so much fun, hot chocolate, soup, snow! (maybe). Nothing makes for a great night of sleep like Tylenol PM. We're about to become homeowners!!!! I have a car, it runs fine. I'm stil

I really love this picture of us in Vegas in 2006. I am a very lucky guy, but at least I'm not turning a year older on the 6th. Many happy returns to the love of my life..and many many more. And kudos to me for not disclosing that she's turning t.... I know better.

Pick the New Guy Day

I spent the day thinking up creative alternate names to Election Day this year. Along with the post title, I came up with "National Stand in Line Day", because of not only facing long lines at the polls, but at the Starbucks to get that free cup of coffee or to Ben and Jerry's to get that free scoop of ice cream. I also thought of "Rain Day", because as long as I can remember, it's rained on Election Day, especially Presidential election days, which leads me to believe that Nature is not too fond of lines either. I was well prepared for rain myself, but lucky for me, the voting booths were inside this year. The local news reporters kept insinuating that I was going to be outside and standing in the rain to vote. So what are my thoughts on today? My thoughts don't really matter in the grand scheme of things. I voted my conscious, but above everything, I am just happy to see so many people out and voting this year. I, to this point, had never stood in

Learning the Lingo

I noticed that there are a ton of new terms that are no longer exclusive to geek circles. They're used in modern, daily web usage and networking. I figured I'd give a quick vocabulary lesson in my own words. For further research, Wikipedia is a great source for keeping up with this new language. Syncing - Now that most everyone has digital music and an mp3 player of some sort, there's now a need to move that music from that local machine to that mobile device. Syncing is the process in which that media is updated from the source to the device while simultaneously updating the media from the device back to the source. This now has other uses which we'll all start seeing soon including photos, videos, and mobile applications. As phones get "smart" and as mobile devices do more and more, this is going to be a central part of anyone's day. Cloud Computing - A lot of companies, including Google and Microsoft see this as the wave of the future in computing.
