Blog Rollin' pt 2

So as you saw in my last post, I'm trying to get blogs together. I'm trying to rebuild a community that has gone the way of social networks not by sticking to the old system, but by embracing the new. I make no qualms about my subscriber list, it's not huge, at least it isn't yet. At the time of writing, I have 25 people that read my blog anytime I post. First, I want to thank each and every one of you readers for doing so. I am flattered that anyone wants to read my posts, and it encourages me to do better, and I will. I also know a lot of my friends on the social nets do not have a large group of readers. We all strive to have that readership that a lot of big time bloggers enjoy and take for granted. I want to bring readers together. I want to create a network for the rest of us. I want to put good, real content out there for more people to see. I see a lot of friends that have good content and no readers, and it's tough. I want to help get your brand out t

I don't do this very often. About twice a year, I clean out my blog roll and try to add in some new reads. I'm also trying to get reacquainted with Delicious , the social bookmarking site, in one fell swoop. I want to expand what I know in many areas including cooking, technology, and heck, even some financial planning. It doesn't hurt to take a few minutes every day to try to learn something! So I'd like for anyone who has a delicious account to tag their blogs to me. You just have to add the tag 'for:mlewis106x' and I'll be able to sort through them and subscribe. I sense that blogging this year is going to face a crossroads between the traditional post and reply method to the newer more social aspect. That step forward intertwines social news, social media, and social networks. I don't want to see blogging become old media and I fear it's already on the fast track, so help me take this first step. The worst that can happen is you get one add

Valentine's Day 2009

Janine unfortunatley had to work today, but such is a life in retail. She was off last night and she'll be off tomorrow so we get to spend some much needed quality time together. We hit up a recent favorite for us last night for dinner. Awful Arthur's makes some great seafood and I'm glad there's one in this area. The last one I went to was in Roanoke and that was pretty much a decade ago. I got her some flowers and chocolate for Valentine's Day and she got me Mario Kart Wii. I've been playing it all day and I'm sure we'll be playing some tonight and tomorrow morning. It's great, but dang was it hard to find. If anyone wants to add me, just leave me a comment and I'll post our license numbers. I am also trying to get things together to purchase cell phones for the both of us. I think it's time to get on a plan, and she deserves a phone that she likes and I'm ready to go ahead and get myself an iPhone. Yippie! I hope she had a good V

An Update of Sorts

I haven't sat down to visit with my readers to update what's been going on in my world. I thought I'd take a minute to give an update. Janine and I have been enjoying our house even the mundane responsibilities that comes with home ownership. That's pretty much been the gist of our time since the holidays. We have started entertaining guests as we had two birthday parties last week as you saw from an earlier post. So far everyone is impressed by our pick in house, the neighborhood, and how we've maintained it. We both know we have a long way to go, but every day is another step towards getting settled down even more. I am looking forward to vacations. This year I decided to plan our time off as much as we could, to maximize those precious few vacation days that I get. Sam and Jessi are scheduled to visit the weekend of my birthday. There are no major plans when they visit, but we all plan on watching The Watchmen. I'm excited, I'm hoping it's going t
