Yet Another Pet

Image
I was outside enjoying a Camel when I noticed thicker than normal webbing. I looked up and saw this: Now she is friggen huge! I'm pretty sure that's a female because there's a corpse of another garden spider on the ground. So not only is she massive but she got busy and ate her mate. Sounds like an interesting day for Charlotte. Yeah, I'm naming her Charlotte. After the training I've had to endure this week, creativity is just not going to happen! I think she smiled at me. She's obviously checking me out.

Animal House

Image
With the arrival of Janine's sister and her husband came a few extra additions to our loving home. Her cat just had two babies and they are adorable and they have a Rotty named Pee Wee. Yeah he's a pee wee alright. He can swallow my head whole in one bite! This is a good shot of the babies sleeping. They've adjusted well to the move so far. I don't think they know any different. Momma and her babies are doing just fine. There's a word for this...... it's "Awwwwwwwwwww!" Yeah, that's Pee Wee......with Pee Wee. And this is our cats' reaction to having a giant dog in the house this morning! What a couple of chickens! In fact they have still locked themselves in the bedroom as I blog.

Thunderific

Last night was pretty brutal. Around 8:00PM thunderstorms started rolling into the area. I figured it would just be a typical scattered quick storm. Boy was I wrong. The power cut off a couple times, but luckily we didn't lose power. Janine called from her cell phone on the way home and said it was the most amazing display of nature that she's ever seen. She made it home after a slow drive and I met her outside with the lightning rod, I mean umbrella. Once we got in safe, we quickly nuked dinner. I had started frying bacon, but with the power outages, I was scared to continue. So we had microwaved bacon and eggs for dinner. We then tried to watch Zodiac which started out as such a good movie until the thunderstorms came back again and the power went out. So we gave up and went to bed. The light show continued well into the night and being the light sleeper that I am, getting a good night's sleep was just not going to happen. I also knew my morning commute was going to be a

Piano, Etc.

Image
I just thought I'd make a quick post about the things going on lately. As you can see, Janine finally got her piano! It's an antique too. I had never heard of Becker & Co Piano Company before, but it's definitely a classic. I like the dark wood finish, and it sounds pretty good. There are a few adjustments that need to be made, but other than that, it's going to look pretty sweet. And it's something that's going to be around the rest of our lives. Moving it was a chore. You may not be able to see, but we had to remove the banister on the stairwell and take out the 3 front rails on our front porch, but we finally crammed her in. I know for sure that when we move, we're going to hire movers. Paying them to do it would save us a whole lot of trouble. I talk about my iPod all the time so I thought I'd take a quick pic of both Janine's and my iPod together, with Topaz, of course. I don't think I couldn't function very long without my iPod

Irreverance Part 4

Hopefully as I do this monthly review of the news items I saved on my Google Reader feed, I can evolve it into something halfway entertaining. Let me try this again this time with pictures and links. Of course you can always skim through my news items on my Reader feed in the sidebar. Internet worms are back and they are worse than ever. Reports came out last week of two really nice bugs that came from emails disguised as e-cards and the other is a destructive mp3 killing worm! That prompted me to back up all the music that's on my hard drive, but it also prompts me to remind people to keep everything up to date, especially Windows users! Windows Update is your friend! Is Barry shooting up on roids ? From what I see there is yet to be any evidence that he is. Obviously the man has bulked up a lot, but I don't see any test results saying he's loaded..not yet anyways. I celebrate the man breaking Hank Aaron's home run record. I challenge any motormouth sports pundit to

My Wiiview

Image
You all may be familiar with my Wii saga. Janine told me on my birthday in March that we were going to purchase the console which made me very happy. I figured both of us would be able to enjoy the Wii so it was a better value. Being at least two hundred dollars cheaper than the other new consoles help make that an easy decision too. Little did we know that we were in the midst of trying to find one the most sought after pieces of hardware since Tickle Me Elmo. I remember going to at least 5 stores in March only to find laughter when asked if they had any of these Wiis in stock. The manager of one store even told me that if I get in early enough, there may be two consoles, but I better bring a bat because the soccer moms trying to find them as well may have rabies. So Janine and I pretty much gave up on finding the new Nintendo console until last week when I was shopping for her iPod Nano. Sitting there in the back of the store were three Wiis. So now I have my toy hooked up and after

Best. Thursday. Ever.

I decided after lunch yesterday, that I would call Janine, who was off work, and invite her to join me at Best Buy for some geekyness along with dinner and a movie. She was agreeable so we met after work on Hull Street at the Commonwealth Center whatever that big area is. It would be my luck that after searching in vain since my birthday to find a Wii that they would have 3 of them sitting there taunting me. I did not go to the Best Buy to buy the Wii so I figured it was fate or Murphy's Law laughing at me. I was there to buy Janine an iPod Nano. She is big into audio books and I figured now would be the best time to buy one for her. I love her and she deserves getting nice things from me once in a while...ok all the time, just whenever I can afford to do so. She was almost in tears as she picked out the blue 4GB Nano. It is definatley a beautiful device. Watching her unbox it gave me a great amount of joy. Watching her learn how they work reminded me of when she brought me my bi
