Internet Culture - Independents

Image
When I look over the vast and growing vaster internet culture, there's something I'm starting to notice within the mainstream. It's not a new practice, but something I've never sat and considered until the past year. I've noticed a small but very loud section of that population that take a stance against literally everything. They do this behind the veil of being an independent thinker. One of the advantages of being this producer of independent thought is that they are not confined to a certain political ideology or religious dogma. They are freed from that with the power to cherry pick topics that are near and dear to them while frowning upon and shunning alternate thought. It's the lazy road, and many more are not starting to take it. Politically, an "independent" doesn't favor any political candidate. While candidates make that very easy these days on their own, an independent takes a permanent high road. They never support any man or w...

A Plea To Twitter List Curators

Image
Yes, this is another Twitter post and yes this is another semi political themed post, but it's my blog and I'll rant if I want to, rant if I want to, rant if I want to. As I have mentioned many times, I write for the RootzWiki News Team  (subscribe!). I love this writing venture and I wouldn't trade it for the world. I follow about 15 Google and Android feeds  (subscribe!) to keep an eye open for newsworthy items. Needless to say I have a daily overdose of all things Google and Android. This way users can create focused, themed, and a word I'm about to use a lot, niche timelines around their interests. I was immediately listed in a couple dozen Pownce lists. Old friends from the now four year defunct service wanted to pack together a focused list of well informed and...

Election Time Randomness

I have been away for quite a while. I figured I would return with a load of randomness! Where have I been? On October 13th, I said "I Do", and "I Will", to the most wonderful woman alive. Janine will probably be awarded sainthood for putting up with me, but I cannot begin to express how blessed and lucky I am to have her in my life. She is truly everything that I could ever want in a life mate, partner, spouse, friend. My main goal in life is to make sure she is happy and provided for. Speaking of Mrs. Lewis, Tuesday is her birthday! It is also Election Day, so we'll probably celebrate by hiding under a rock for 48 hours, enough time for this American election drama to blow over.  Speaking of Election Day, something has always bothered me in the wide world of rhetoric. There is a maxim that if a person does not vote, they are not allowed to speak out about the condition of their country. Not only is that a form of bullying, that's also a form of elit...
