Who Dey You Asked?

Image
To those that know me I'm sure they are surprised and perplexed as to why I didn't post about my team winning the Super Bowl... Here it is! One team can claim to be a cornerstone in the foundation of professional football. One team has fans who wear cheese shaped foam hats on their heads. One team can boast to be owned by its cheesehead wearing fans, a non profit organization located in a small town with just over one hundred thousand people. There is a waiting list of over 78,000 people for season tickets for this one team. One stadium is considered to be the best football experience year in and year out. One team comes to mind when the terms frozen tundra and ice bowl are mentioned. One team's quarterback holds almost every record in the NFL. Thank you, by the way, Mr. Favre. One team boasts probably the best pure yet underrated talent. Even after winning this year's championship most of these players are still unknowns. One team will never get that name brand...

Obligatory Blog Post

Quiet week. Not much going on, so I'll post a picture of great awesometude. Yeah, I made up that word. I fear I jinx my beloved Pack when I post about them, so this will be all. I promise. Unless they win it all. Who knows.

Am I Ready for Some Football?

Image
You bet I'm ready for some Football! I'm eager to see the beginning of the Aaron Rodgers era. I also get a bonus by watching the legend, Brett Favre still throwing passes in a Jets jersey.  It's going to be a fun year.

The End of a Legacy

Image
Sixteen years of any professional sport is an unheard of achievement these days. Athletes are pushed beyond any reasonable limits more so now than ever. Needless to say when talking about the retirement of Brett Favre, one speaks of more than an end to a great career, but to the end of an era. I remember that first game when Brett Favre took the field taking over for an injured Don Majkowski, and playing brilliantly. I knew from that moment, that we would all be in for a treat. I remember in 1996 watching with great delight as Favre and the Packers defeated the greatly overrated New England Patriots to win the Super Bowl. I remember just last year, a 38 year old man who was supposed to be written off, lead the youngest team in football, to the biggest game in the National Football Conference. The memories I have span my entire young adult life, so with a great amount of meloncholy and nostalgia, I say good luck to Number Four in his retirement and thanks for the magic and the memorie...

New England Embarassment

After watching tomorrow's devastating Patriots win, I thought I'd post a reminder of what could have been by showing highlights of the last time the Pats got their collective asses kicked in the Super Bowl. Oh, what could have been...

Superbowl, meh

The last time I posted a picture of Tom Brady, I got an appreciative comment from Kelly , so I'm going to do pretty much the same. I wanted to take a second to predict the outcome of this year's Super Bowl. Patriots 55 Giants 10. That's right. In fact I'll go ahead and say it now, the 2007 Patriots are the best team ever and there will be no way to dispute or prove that otherwise. Yuck! In fact, if I could legitimately predict a team to get a triple digit score, I would. That's right 100+ points. It can be done and if it happens to any team at any time in history, it'll probably happen this Sunday.

Pack Year in Review

I was really hoping to wait one more game before recapping the fun year I had watching the Packers this year. That was just not to be. It's amazing how one bad play or one bad decision can ruin an entire year. I remember starting the year thinking that my team didn't stand a snowball's chance. A team with the one of the oldest quarterbacks to play along with the youngest team in the entire league didn't sound like the formula to success. So you can imagine my surprise when Green Bay won their first five games. Favre looked like he did 11 years ago when he lead his team to a Super Bowl win over a highly overrated New England Patriots team (sound familiar?) We saw the rise of two shining stars in Green Bay along with many others. Ryan Grant and Greg Jennings were reliable and consistent threats to the Packer offense. Their futures are bright and if they played in any other market, they would be touted easily as league MVP. The real stars were the defense. Teams had a hard...

Go Pack, Go!!

Image
It's Playoff time! Green Bay will host either the Seahawks, Giants, or Bucs depending on this weekend's wildcard action. Bring 'em on, there is nothing more imposing than having to visit the frozen tundra of Lambeau field in early January. Go Pack!!!

The Countdown Begins

I used to watch with anger and indignation as a child when I watched the Redskins taunting and acting foolish whenever they won. The only thing worse than that were the Redskin fans. I dreaded a Redskins win because that meant I'd hear that God awful Hail to the Redskins song all day long the next day. Now the tables have turned. The Skins were utterly humiliated yesterday in Boston, losing to Tom Brady and the Patriots 52-7. Joe Gibbs, coach of the Redskins runs off the field after the game without meeting at the center of the field with the coach that finally turned the tables on him and embarrassed him in front of the world. Gibbs of course is a honorable guy and today conceded that it's not proper to whine and complain, but to focus on the next week. However.... Complaints started coming from Redskin players which has prompted me to post this complaining about the Patriots running up the score. I have one response to this band of sore losers. Take the humiliation. Find a li...
