Who Doesn't Love Oatmeal

Image
This is a two bird one stone post. Well, three actually, but I'm too tired to count that high: I wanted to post something for today, I wanted to plug a site worthy of an RSS subscription, and I wanted to send out some congratulations to the writer. We've all at least thought of doing it... The Oatmeal  is a web comic and updated by Matthew Inman. His hilarious take on life's annoyances won me over long ago. Today Tumblr (which I've mentioned recently) agreed to take one of his comics and use it for their 503 page. So if (or when) Tumblr goes down, people will see one of his drawings. So kudos and long live The Oatmeal..... ......by subscribing, and checking out his book which comes out soon. Linkage: The Oatmeal Wikipedia The Oatmeal

Theft.bin

I know I've posted this picture before. Probably when talking about my forever saga moving leaves every fall. There's something in this picture though that is missing now. Want to take any guesses? I woke up this morning, got up and headed out. While backing up, I looked over my shoulder to see where the trash bin was located. I put it on the street for pick up the other night. It wasn't freaking there! Some ghetto, redneck, knuckle dragging, slacker dipstick targeted my dumpster. It's possible it was lifted because it had less garbage in it then the rest of the cans on my street. My first thought was maybe the county claimed it for a late bill or my can was getting replaced, but it's a pretty new can. So I called and ordered a replacement, but what a stitch. Here's my tweet which will will assuredly afflict these thieves with various skin and body disorders. I will have justice! Bahhahaha! To the redneck who stole our trash bin this morning, may...

Oscar Winning Role of a Razzie Life

Image
It is award season and this is as close as I'll ever get to posting anything about celebrities. I remember posting a couple years ago on Pownce a short list of actors that I'd like to portrait yours truly if my life was ever made into a movie. Outside of that being one of the worst potential movies ever made it would need some serious acting power to make my life pop. Here is my updated short list from least likely to most, but anyone would agree this is a formidable list.  I do not insist they look like me, at all, as you'll see, it's mannerisms, style, humor, intensity that landed these five poor saps below: Why Macy, Mike? Well, that's an easy one.  He fits into any role and blends into the background perfectly. Sean Astin has played parts as an effeminate hobbit and big hearted linebacker. I added Astin after watching his short stint on 24. His drive for organization along with the  occasional careless mistake ultimatel...

Needing Laughter

Image
This has to have been one of the most intense weeks of my working life. I needed a good laugh so I dug through into my subscriptions and found something that's been around for a while. Garfield - Garfield is a clever strip which simply removes Garfield the cat out of his own comic. What's left is Jon Arbuckle, occasionally Odie, and hilarity. Lasagna! Link: Garfield Minus Garfield

Moshing Penguin

I saw and retweeted this earlier, but I figured it was worth its own post. After all, penguins love the metal. H/T @apeshit

Reigning Christmas

Everyone else is getting a head start on the holiday season. So will I! Slayer!!!

Quick Site of the Week

Image
Honestly, this is more like site of the month, since I do this so rarely, but I couldn't pass this one up. A lot of us have smart phones now, most of them are iPhones. One of the great features of the iPhone is their autocorrect, it can be pretty smart. One of it's biggest comedic flaws is also the autocorrect. Damn You, Autocorrect , takes us all on a journey into hilarity as people are left to answer for their phone's tragic spell correction. I say this is very much worth the RSS subscription at least. It'll make your ducking day!

8 Bit Bleak

I forgot to post again yesterday so I'm doubling up again today. My punishment? Opeth's Bleak in 8 bit. Serves me right for skipping a day during my month of blogging which is practically almost over! Serves me right...

Jukebox Gold

My father always said, "Plan your work, and work your plan". This has to be one of the best worked plans ever. Hilarious? Understatement! John Mulaney - Best Meal EVER (some language, blah blah)

Creedeelicious

As we wind down the week, I remind you all to laugh. Yeah, there's some language, but this revisited classic was not possible to pass up. H/T @zoeythegreat

Friend Bar Har Har

Since I'm on a roll and feeling like sharing a few laughs, I wanted to post this story from the prolific tech reporters at The Onion. This has been out for a few weeks and I was ignoring it mostly because I just thought it was true. So because I was zinged, I figured I'd share in the zingeration. Holy Snow, Batman

Image
A quick look at the satellite tells me that we are due for nearly a foot of snow in the Richmond area this weekend. Guess it's time to prepare for the end of things. The South is unique when it comes to preparation for this cataclysmic event. My Northern readers have all been slowed down by snow, but never completely shut down by the white stuff. In fact, most are lucky to miss a morning's activities with rarely a cancellation of school, work, church, or other social events. These Northern readers also find how we deal with the four letter S word to be completely humorous. At the first mention of snow, people begin to stock up with milk and bread in fear of this apocalyptic frozen precipitation. Why milk and bread? I've always wondered that. I can understand the need for bread, but if one loses power for a week, water may last longer in that refrigerator. The dairy industry thanks you, I guess. Many buy (I prefer the word waste) at least a week's worth of extra su...

It Only Hurts When I Laugh

Needless to say, this made me hurt quite a bit. Classic hat tip to Ben and Kristopher at Facebook for posting this.

New iGoogle Pages

Image
As iGoogle users have already noticed, their home pages have made a pretty significant change. Now Google is utilizing the home page into more of their services to provide a seamless experience with their services. Now instead of going from the iGoogle page to GMail, or Google Reader, you can use their canvasing technology to stay on the home page, while taking care of your Google tasks. I like it. I know a lot of people do not like it. I had to hear my Father, the Super Nerd,  rant about how his home page has now shrunk. Others just don't care or understand why Google would make such a move to drastically alter what's worked for them and their users for years. Ars Technica posted an article just a short while ago that Google may have found a way to use this expansive home page view to monetize, helping widget developers and the like. The funny part of the article is the ad which was not prevalent before, but now is from Ars Technica. So not only is this a new way to mone...
