Having a Good Weekend?

I'm have a real good weekend, thanks, Monica. Friday night, Janine picked me up from work and we grabbed supper from Red Lobster. She had never been before! I think she liked it ok. She's like me. Raised near the Chesapeake Bay, you're surrouded by local seafood places which are much, much better than going to a chain place. She did enjoy the cheddar buscuits and I as always enjoyed the shrimp. I think on the dates that I've been with her, that's all I've ordered. Even from the Cracker Barrell!

We then went to see The Davinci Code. I liked the acting, but it just seemed to me to be this big jab at Christianity. I can see why the church is so mad about the movie going out, but they need to be. The church has done a lot, but it's failed a lot too.

We then decided to venture downtown to hit up Wonderland. There weren't a lot of people there and both Janine and I are suffering from this super bout of cold and allergies, so we had a beer and went back to her place. We totally missed the Mensrea show at AlleyKatz! Dangit!

Saturday morning she took me home after some yummy buscuit goodness at McDonalds, and she went off to work. I stayed at home and took a long nap. I think that's the first time I've done that inforever. I just cant bring myself to wasting time during the day to sleep, but because I've been so on the go, it just all caught up to me. So I crashed.

She came and got me Saturday evening and took me to the grocery store to get supplies. Then she went off to do homework and I stayed home to put laundry away and clean house.

This morning she took me to her aunt's resturant on Broad Street. It's called Karen's Diner, and if you are in that area and want breakfast, I highly recommend it. It was delish. She then went back to work and I'm going to spend the last of my weekend here curled up with a book, or watching the tube and getting ready for another long week.

I'm hoping these allergies go away because I'm only getting worse. I might need to find me a doctor tomorrow to get some allergy meds. The right side of my face is literally falling off!

I moved to Richmond in September, full of aprehension. Many of you by keeping up with my story know full well the ups and downs that I have faced. I was very fortunate to land a great job in October. After a lot of rejection, and fear for losing everything I started my new job with that same fear I had when I moved to this city. I was crammed in an office with Kelly Stern. He is such a kind, patient, gentle soul. He showed me around and I got comfortable working there really fast. I smile when I remember one of my coworkers talking about us giggling in there all day. I had fun those days. It did not take me long to find out that Kelly was gay. He mentioned living with Jeff, and I put two and two together fast. My Wiiview

You all may be familiar with my Wii saga. Janine told me on my birthday in March that we were going to purchase the console which made me very happy. I figured both of us would be able to enjoy the Wii so it was a better value. Being at least two hundred dollars cheaper than the other new consoles help make that an easy decision too. Little did we know that we were in the midst of trying to find one the most sought after pieces of hardware since Tickle Me Elmo. I remember going to at least 5 stores in March only to find laughter when asked if they had any of these Wiis in stock. The manager of one store even told me that if I get in early enough, there may be two consoles, but I better bring a bat because the soccer moms trying to find them as well may have rabies. So Janine and I pretty much gave up on finding the new Nintendo console until last week when I was shopping for her iPod Nano. Sitting there in the back of the store were three Wiis. Dear Topaz, Today was a very good day. It was seasonable, but a little warm for this late in September. The sun was out, and some clouds rolled in. It felt like a pretty normal day. Work went well. Of course, being Friday, people are in better spirits and with some of the senior leadership out of the office, a few extra laughs were had with my associates. The ride to work and home was fairly typical. There's still entirely too many people who would prefer to focus on other things rather than driving. It's also nice to see some people heading out of town. I always imagine they're going a happy occasion to see family or celebrate a birthday or a wedding over the weekend. The boys are doing well. Their grades are holding up. Of course, they're both grounded, for various things. Their room's still a mess. The youngest is getting used to middle school and the oldest decided he likes Green Day.
