The Christmas Remix

If I keep putting off my recap of Christmas, it won't change the fact that I need to do my Christmas recap. I'll have a New Year's recap next week after Janine and I get back from Maryland.

Christmas Eve, Janine and I celebrated with her Mom at her house with her family. It's always a good time and I've become really attached with everyone. We all bring in food to great excess. I brought in deviled eggs. It was my first try at trying to make those tasty little treats, but with Janine and my Mom's help, it went smoothly. I ate myself to utter misery and then we all opened presents. They do a really neat Secret Santa exchange where everyone draws a number and people exchange already opened gifts. I got a tub of popcorn!

The next morning, we got up and exchanged gifts in a more quiet immediate family setting at Janine's Moms house. I got a really nice pair of gloves and a much needed shirt. Then we went to her Uncle's for breakfast. The food is always good there, but we didn't stay too long. We had to be off to my parents to celebrate Christmas with them.

An hour and thirty minutes of driving later we spent the day relaxing, and exchanging gift cards at Mom and Dad's and they made dinner for us. Mom always makes the best potato salad! They are so generous too. They gave us both some money. I'm just always speechless about how lucky I am, like now!

Late that night, Janine and I drove back to Richmond to go back to work the next day. All in all I had a very nice Christmas. I'm so very blessed to have two good loving families in my life.

Janine also got me some really nice work clothes which I've enjoyed wearing the past couple days. I told her though the best gift I could ever get, I got, she's been the answer to all my prayers. I can only hope to have many, many more Christmas' just like this one!

I moved to Richmond in September, full of aprehension. Many of you by keeping up with my story know full well the ups and downs that I have faced. I was very fortunate to land a great job in October. After a lot of rejection, and fear for losing everything I started my new job with that same fear I had when I moved to this city. I was crammed in an office with Kelly Stern. He is such a kind, patient, gentle soul. He showed me around and I got comfortable working there really fast. I smile when I remember one of my coworkers talking about us giggling in there all day. My Wiiview

You all may be familiar with my Wii saga. Janine told me on my birthday in March that we were going to purchase the console which made me very happy. I figured both of us would be able to enjoy the Wii so it was a better value. Being at least two hundred dollars cheaper than the other new consoles help make that an easy decision too. Little did we know that we were in the midst of trying to find one the most sought after pieces of hardware since Tickle Me Elmo. I remember going to at least 5 stores in March only to find laughter when asked if they had any of these Wiis in stock. The manager of one store even told me that if I get in early enough, there may be two consoles, but I better bring a bat because the soccer moms trying to find them as well may have rabies. So Janine and I pretty much gave up on finding the new Nintendo console until last week when I was shopping for her iPod Nano. Sitting there in the back of the store were three Wiis. Dear Topaz, Today was a very good day. It was seasonable, but a little warm for this late in September. The sun was out, and some clouds rolled in. It felt like a pretty normal day. Work went well. Of course, being Friday, people are in better spirits and with some of the senior leadership out of the office, a few extra laughs were had with my associates. The ride to work and home was fairly typical. There's still entirely too many people who would prefer to focus on other things rather than driving. It's also nice to see some people heading out of town. I always imagine they're going a happy occasion to see family or celebrate a birthday or a wedding over the weekend. The boys are doing well. Their grades are holding up. Of course, they're both grounded, for various things. Their room's still a mess. The youngest is getting used to middle school and the oldest decided he likes Green Day.
