Last Weekend - Photos

Image
We had a bit of a road trip last weekend. Janine's family held a Memorial Day weekend gathering on the Northern Neck. Being from Warsaw myself, I knew this was going to be a good time. There is a family house outside of Reedville with close access to the Chesapeake Bay. The house is beautiful and there are a lot of houses over there for sale reasonably. I have a feeling Janine and I are going to be looking into vacation houses as we get our current house paid for. What a great way to get away from it all! I can not say enough about how we have some of the most beautiful real estate in the country right here.  I wanted to drop a couple photos here. New Orleans: Photo Post

Image
The view of New Orleans from the sky. The city is rich in history be it French, Spanish, Creole, American. New Orleans is probably one of the more photogenic towns I've seen. The culture and vivid colors came as advertised. A city where tragedy is ingrained in its DNA. They know and celebrate life and even death. This is truly a unique place!

Obligatory Beach Pix Post

Base camp last weekend. Got plenty sun and beach on Saturday. Not so much for Sunday. The rest of the weekend washed out. So I turned Janine loose on the Myrtle Beach Home Goods. The rain did not dampen our plans to relax. Relax we did.

Chicago Again!

Image
I realized that it's been over ten years since I was in Chicago. I left under bad circumstances and at the time swore I'd never go back. I did leave a loophole in that promise to always be ready to return on business. I've had layovers in Chicago now the last two or three times I've traveled, but Thursday and Friday of this week, Chicago was my destination. I attended one of those fun industry conferences complete with vendors, speakers, break away groups, you get the idea. The conference actually was very productive.  I learned a lot. Everyone was nice. It's good to be able to network and meet so many people in our industry looking to improve and change things that I never foresaw when I first got into insurance. I hope I can take what I learned with me in my future endeavors. I didn't have time to do much of anything in town. We were away from the heart of the Chicago that everyone sees on television. We were in Lombard. I boarded the plane early Thursday ...

Pondering Vacations (again)

(Hehe, Neaners was here) And now back to your regularly scheduled blog. Last night, I was pricing packages to Vegas and I guess I'm cheap. Just to start, it's going to cost over a thousand dollars just for flight and hotel! Ouch! Janine has been trying to talk me into considering a trip to Atlantic City instead. It's not that we're looking for some place to gamble, I can do that from home, online, it's just that the Vegas experience is so addicting. We're looking at around a 7 hour drive to Atlantic City and just booking hotels, I found a great deal at Harrah's, which is an awesome casino. I loved the one in Vegas, and from the looks of it, people really enjoy staying at their Jersey location. So a trip in June does not seem out of the question at all. Considering I'm so burned out from work, it just couldn't come too soon. Janine and I both need another break, and this looks like the break we're both looking for.

Next Weekend

Image
Janine and I both really need a break from work, and something to do that involves us getting the hell out of Richmond. So we are going to Maryland next weekend to visit my brother. He lives in Aberdeen, Maryland. I looked it up this morning. No, it's no party mecca, in fact I can see why my brother likes it there so much. It's really close to Baltimore and to Pennsylvania and New York, so he's close enough to the action if he wants to be, but with his 2 year old son, it's really a great place to start a family. So kudos, Dave, you did an awesome job planning things out. I really look forward to seeing him and Barbie, and Kaleb again! I got to see them briefly a few weeks ago, and the poor child looks just like my brother. I tease, he is going to be tall though, and after just turning two, he's already reading and counting and has full conversations. He's got my brother's spikey haircut too. He's adorable. I'll take lots and lots of pics! Then we a...
