What's News?

Image
As you may know, Maria, this weekend is our big move. We are still struggling to find a place to liave and it looks like I'm going to have to get a co signor because our credit stinks. But with the move, I doubt I'll have much access to the web for a while. Next time I post, I should be in Richmond. Kat is having a lot of fun in Richmond attending classes and I'm going to do everything in my power to ensure that she sticks with this.

RIP - Piggy

I had never spent a great amount of time, to my shame, to listen and get a feel for the Canadian prog rock/metal band Voivod, but the stuff I have checked out is great. Voivod guitarist Dennis D'Amour passed away Friday night at the age of 45 from advanced cancer. My thoughts go out to his family. Thank you Piggy for changing the face of rock in ways that we probably will never discover.

CNN.com - Katrina hits Florida: 2 dead; 1 million in dark

That's right. Don't mess with Katrina. I just found this funny, not because of the pain and expense that hurricanes bring, because they named a hurricane after my wife. If they only knew. Kat's first classes were today. She's been in Richmond since yesterday and I miss her terribly. Kat come back!

SW Episode 3 English to Chinese and Back

If you need a laugh, you have to see this. So check it out, and...laugh.

Kat and I are heading out this morning hopefully to secure our apartment and tie up so loose ends. Then we're going to Warsaw to visit my parents and get my rear brakes replaced. So we will be back in Lynchburg late Saturday night. The Lynchburg Underground will be broadcasting all weekend. Tune in!

What's With the Chicks?

I don't really know, Shannon. I figured it would add color and zest to my blog if I just posted pictures of hot babes that I downloaded from the internet. Besides, I would appear to be crazy if I used my own forum to talk to myself. I do enough of that anyways. No, I don't. Yes, I do.

Peter Jennings 1938 - 2005

Image
CNN.com - Peter Jennings dies of lung cancer - Aug 8, 2005 Peter Jennings has succumbed to lung cancer at the age of 67. As I always say, it's a very sobering thought to see the figures in my life, even through television pass away. My thoughts are with his wife, children, and family.

How's the Move Going?

Image
The move is on for the end of August, Scarlett, but we haven't packed anything up yet. The task actually seems rather daunting. We have about 5 1/2 years worth of crap to go through, utilities to move, an apartment to secure in Richmond this Friday, car repairs, and a farewell party to throw. Speaking of car repairs. If you are even in the market for tires and you hear an add for NTB, remember these words: Go to Sears. Heck, go to Wal Mart or Willy Wonka for your tires, just avoid the idiots at NTB. I'm about to purchase my 8th tire in a year thanks to those assclowns. I figure if I can talk 4 customers out of ever going there, justice will be done...tires paid. Does anyone have any extra boxes? I need a couple hundred.

Criss Angel

Criss Angel Ok, I didn't think you can cram more magic gothic cheese in one 30 minute program, but it's possible. I do enjoy watching Mindfreak. He can be seen this summer at Ozzfest and on A&E... A&E? Isn't that the channel with all the obscure biographies? Good call to bring in a younger audience! It's really, really working.

Here we come!!!!

August 3, 1942

I know it's a little late, heck it's the 4th of August already, but 43 years go, my parents got married. My parents have always had a strange dynamic. My mom always worked a perfect balance of being a mother and having a career. My dad had a balance between the two jobs he would always have. Growing up I can remember how much they disliked each other. There was a lot of bitterness and it seemed every year it would build more and more. Once I left home and moved to Indiana, I could see them getting closer. Soon after that my brother went off to college too and both of us were waiting for that day when they would divorce. It never happened that way. It was the total opposite. They started to really love each other. Over time, age, illness, and religion has drawn them together like I always wanted to see when I was smaller. I have to admire anyone that can make a marriage like theirs work and make it work for so long. Happy anniversary, Mom and Dad. Thank you for showing me th...
