My Random Take On What's Trending

When visiting Twitter I'm often nauseated by the trending topics. There is a weird mixture of breaking news and mundane, uneducated live TV tweeting that makes me lose some hope in humanity. I decided that I would take on each of the major trending topics in the USA with my own tweet here on my blog. This promises to be stupid, so if you stop reading from here, I would not blame you.

#DontBotherMeWhenIm - I gave this one a lot of thought and have two answers: takin' a dump! or trying to think of a witty answer to this stupid fill in the blank...thing.

Jake and Fitz - I realize I have the power of Google here to look that up, but I have no clue who they are. I'm going to take a wild guess that it's a team of private investigators that run their business behind a Ben and Jerry's. 

#MyRepliesToTextsWhenImMad - OMG U HTR HOW DARE U TXT ME IM SO MAD 

Chino y Nacho - I can't touch this one, I'll appear to be completely racist. I'll take another guess. Chino and Nacho are a law firm specializing in car accidents and food poisoning cases. I'm also suddenly craving cheese. 

#FakeRightWingHagelStories - Oh, a political hashtag. I love politics! Chuck Hagel was nominated to serve as Secretary of Defense despite his admitted lack of real world DOD experience and probable disdain for an ally in the Middle East. I must make up something witty because evil dumb conservatives have the audacity to try to vet this guy for his job. The nerve! 

#Moda25 - This is more like it. More stupid crap that I have no idea about. This looks like an MMA thing. Maybe this guy Chino is taking on this guy Nacho to the death or something. Sorry, I have no idea. In reality looking up this hash tag would probably fry my remaining two brain cells. 

Mi Nina Bonita - My beautiful daughter. That's sweet. Maybe it's a song. It would probably sound pretty and make me cry if I knew what they were saying. My 4 years of Spanish class failed me big time.

#Scandal - This one boggles my mind. I know it's an ABC drama, but the people that watch it tweet out every detail. It's insane! Thank the good lord there's hash tag blocking or I would lose my mind. I have a feeling they try very hard to be a modern Melrose Place. 

Scott Foley - He's an actor and I bet you he's on Scandal which would explain why females in my timeline are constantly talking about #Scandal. After all, he was in The Unit.

Mac Miller - No idea. Probably television related as well. 

I don't want to come across as too elitist, but trending topics tend to show the best and worst in this or any social network that maintains such metrics. If Twitter were to run some kind of word cloud on the nonsense I tweet about, it would probably be just as ignorant as the rest, so be it very far from me to judge.

I moved to Richmond in September, full of aprehension. Many of you by keeping up with my story know full well the ups and downs that I have faced. I was very fortunate to land a great job in October. After a lot of rejection, and fear for losing everything I started my new job with that same fear I had when I moved to this city. I was crammed in an office with Kelly Stern. He is such a kind, patient, gentle soul. He showed me around and I got comfortable working there really fast. I smile when I remember one of my coworkers talking about us giggling in there all day. I had fun those days. It did not take me long to find out that Kelly was gay. He mentioned living with Jeff, and I put two and two together fast. Kelly listened to my troubles, and gave me sound, firm advice. He has been so helpful to me also by taking me home from work almost every day and taking me by the grocery store to get supplies. The Drowning Death Spiral of Modern Political Debates

There's nothing like a tragic loss of life for people to tout their political beliefs. And it's so much easier in this social media age. As I've noted many times before though, there's a lot less discourse now and a lot more shouting and yelling. The weekend tragedy in Orlando is a sad and depressing example of this showboating. In the midst of evil and intolerance, sides have geared up to discuss the merits of gun control again. Yet I don't really hear a coherent debate. What I hear are two sides screaming about two narratives that don't mesh together at all. Picture two children arguing. One wants a video game and the other one wants to eat. The focus is in two different arenas, food and fun. On one side of the gun debate are people who are strong advocates of constitutional jurisprudence. My Wiiview

You all may be familiar with my Wii saga. Janine told me on my birthday in March that we were going to purchase the console which made me very happy. I figured both of us would be able to enjoy the Wii so it was a better value. Being at least two hundred dollars cheaper than the other new consoles help make that an easy decision too. Little did we know that we were in the midst of trying to find one the most sought after pieces of hardware since Tickle Me Elmo. I remember going to at least 5 stores in March only to find laughter when asked if they had any of these Wiis in stock. The manager of one store even told me that if I get in early enough, there may be two consoles, but I better bring a bat because the soccer moms trying to find them as well may have rabies. So Janine and I pretty much gave up on finding the new Nintendo console until last week when I was shopping for her iPod Nano. Sitting there in the back of the store were three Wiis.
