First Post of 2014

I have not written here at all this year. I am alive. It's May already. Let the year officially begin, I guess. I figured I would catch everything up with a random post!


  • It's not like I'm not writing. I'm a writer and editor over at RootzWiki. I have articles there at least 2 or 3 days a week. I usually just banter on about new apps for my Android phone. 
  • This was a pretty brutal winter. With warm weather comes me going outside and enjoying the weather. That of course goes into my other routines that keep me away from a computer like going to the gym, working on the yard, and tending to family. 
  • Jeff Hanneman (Slayer guitarist) passed a year ago. Always sad to lose metal giants and good guys like him.
  • I have to admit that I am surprised at the level of GREAT customer service I've gotten since switching to AT&T Wireless last fall. I expected a disaster after not so great service from Sprint, but after having to make several changes to my account which involved calling or going to the store, I am pleased. I've had nothing but good luck so far (knock on wood) at the Brook Road store at VCC.
  • My job has not changed, but the owner's has. That's taken a mental toll on me during the transition, but the new company is fantastic. I could not have asked to work for a better company.
  • My yard is still a disaster. I won't even....
  • Speaking of walking around downtown, the above shot was taken at Shockoe Bottom before the rains came this week. I hear it wants to flood down there something fierce. The James River is a mighty beast when it wants to be.

That's all for me now. I hope I can remember to post more stuff here and there and not completely forget that I have this.....

I had a ball last night! Janine picked me up from work and we headed to Regency to grab some food and pick up James , who come to find out is a huge Sevendust fan and a lot of fun to hang with, more on that later. We headed to the Innsbrook Pavilion which looks really nice as far as outdoor venues go. There was your typical heavy police and security force there, and I don't blame them considering the copious amounts of alchohol that was being consumed by everybody. There was some band playing already out of Boston, but I wasn't impressed. Come to find out later the guy I was headb anging with during Sevendust was their guitarist. Soil came on next and I'm sold. I had doubts about their new lead singer, but he had a lot of energy. By the end of the set he was down in the circle moshing with the kids and hippies who paid for those tickets. For My Friend

I moved to Richmond in September, full of aprehension. Many of you by keeping up with my story know full well the ups and downs that I have faced. I was very fortunate to land a great job in October. After a lot of rejection, and fear for losing everything I started my new job with that same fear I had when I moved to this city. I was crammed in an office with Kelly Stern. He is such a kind, patient, gentle soul. He showed me around and I got comfortable working there really fast. I smile when I remember one of my coworkers talking about us giggling in there all day. I had fun those days. It did not take me long to find out that Kelly was gay. He mentioned living with Jeff, and I put two and two together fast. Kelly listened to my troubles, and gave me sound, firm advice. He has been so helpful to me also by taking me home from work almost every day and taking me by the grocery store to get supplies.
