D Ray's Bash n Stuff

Image
Janine and I had a great time last night! We went to our friend Darrell's birthday party. He's not doing half bad for a 40 year old. We got there right on time, which is a major accomplishment for us, and went out to their back deck to have beers and hang out. A lot of people showed up. It's got to be great to have so many good friends like that. The food was great, the food was better, and the fellowship (I love that word sometimes), was awesome. D Ray's fiance, Tracy was a good host. It's hard to keep that many people in one yard...at one time. We mostly sat out back and listened to some of these off the wall stories. Most of these guys are in bands and have been through some crazy shit, so it was extremly entertaining. It's always great to hear drunken stories about winding up in the wrong part of Atlantic City and getting harrassed by hookers. Great times. I'll post pictures later on. Janine has the camera with her and she's at work today. The good n...

Pondering Vacations (again)

(Hehe, Neaners was here) And now back to your regularly scheduled blog. Last night, I was pricing packages to Vegas and I guess I'm cheap. Just to start, it's going to cost over a thousand dollars just for flight and hotel! Ouch! Janine has been trying to talk me into considering a trip to Atlantic City instead. It's not that we're looking for some place to gamble, I can do that from home, online, it's just that the Vegas experience is so addicting. We're looking at around a 7 hour drive to Atlantic City and just booking hotels, I found a great deal at Harrah's, which is an awesome casino. I loved the one in Vegas, and from the looks of it, people really enjoy staying at their Jersey location. So a trip in June does not seem out of the question at all. Considering I'm so burned out from work, it just couldn't come too soon. Janine and I both need another break, and this looks like the break we're both looking for.

Tragedy

Living in Virginia, we had all become accustomed to watching school shootings unfold in other parts of the country. We are, however, not immune to violence here in Virginia. Between Richmond and Washington, DC, this part of the world has a bad reputation for murder. Even recently, there was a man who drove to Richmond to fly out of the airport here only to end up dead along with his two sons. Today, a new page turns in our history as 1 (still possibly 2) gunmen killed 33 people on the campus of Virginia Tech. I had visited the campus a few times when I was living in Lynchburg, but I never had any attachment to any of the people there. My heart does go out to the people affected by today's shooting. No matter what the motive may be, it's all in vain. People did not have to die over this person'(s) vindetta. This all makes me very sad. This is really a nice state. There really are nice people here. I hope people believe that.

We Did It!!!

I really should work on my taxes. Instead, I figured I would venture out and try to figure out how to put my old header back into my blog. Thanks to help from this site , I was able to accomplish that. I like my google header. That was a lot of work! I feel so much better now. This afternoon, I'm heading to Chesterfield Town Center with Janine to do some volenteer work. Basically we're going to be cleaning up old glasses and sending them out to people that really need them. I'm not sure what I'll be doing, but I'm sure it involves cleaning them. I doubt they'll show me how to figure out the prescription, that's too technical. Last night, Janine and I went to see Meet the Robinsons in 3D. I never thought they'd bring that back, but it's really well done. You do eventually get used to it, but at first, holy shit the robot is coming for me! It's a really good movie though, and I highly recomend seeing it in all its 3D glory. I'm also keepi...

Planet Lewis Show

Did Easter come and go already? Is the tax deadline this weekend? Who stole March? Why am I asking so many questions? I have no idea. Most of those questions are rhetorical anyways. So what's been going on since my week long blog nap? I'm really enjoying the new website. It's just cool to have my own domain like this. I'm debating going to StickerJunkie and ordering 100 lil bumper stickers and hand them out to everyone I know. That Sanjaya guy is still on American Idol. That's just funny. I think people are voting for him with the intention of derailing the show. I hate to say this, but the negative publicity is still causing the show to kill with the ratings, which means you can vote for 100 Sanjaya's and that's not going to accomplish a damn thing. Just vote the guy off. I know pop singers aren't supposed to actually have any real talent, but the whole subject is starting to grate my nerves. Janine and I have started watching Alias. She watched and lo...

Oh Neat!

I am now offcially a nerd! I purchased www.thelewisshow.com over the weekend. I used godaddy as my provider and got a pretty good deal. Everything cost me about 11 bucks, but that's just to purchase the domain. For now I'm just going to have the site redirect to my blog. This creates new issues because I had to revert back to my classic template. That means I have some updating to do. I really got used to the widgits to change my site around, but now it's back to good old HTML. *update* I was able to transfer my new blogger template over! This was such a relief* This is so exciting. I have a webpage now...it's mine! I'm sure I'll do more with it eventually, but for right now, this works great.

Snow Angels?

Janine had an interview this morning at 9. No, she's not applying for work, she's interviewing an potential applicatant. She got me out of bed to show me a winter wonderland outside! I laughed and mocked the weather guy Thursday night when he said it was going to snow, but he was right. I took some shots and called my Dad. He said Warsaw has gotten 4 inches of snow and it's still falling! This is insane. I had to find my coat and I still can't find my gloves or my stocking cap. As a matter of habit I almost put on my jean shorts to clean off our cars. It's snowing in April! Dammit!
